Plant Exotic Selecting a suitable mango variety: Choose a mango variety that is suitable for your climate and location. Different varieties have different requirements, so research which types are best suited for your area. Obtaining a mango seed or seedling: There are two main ways to start growing a mango plant: using a seed or a grafted seedling. While growing from a seed is possible, it can take several years for the plant to bear fruit. Grafted seedlings, on the other hand, are more reliable and will typically produce fruit within a few years. Preparing the planting site: Mango plants prefer a sunny location with well-draining soil. Make sure the soil is rich in organic matter and has good drainage. Prepare the soil by loosening it and removing any weeds or debris. Planting the seed or seedling: If you're using a seed, remove the outer husk and plant it about an inch deep in the soil with the concave side facing upwards. If you're using a seedling, dig a hole deep and wide enough to accommodate the root ball, then place the seedling in the hole and backfill with soil, ensuring the graft union is above the soil level. Watering: Water the newly planted mango plant thoroughly after planting, ensuring the soil is moist but not waterlogged. During the first year, water regularly, especially during dry periods. After the first year, mango plants are relatively drought-tolerant but will still benefit from regular watering.
